WELLINGTON.

Coeojteb’s Inquest. —An inquest was held at the Kaiwara Hotel, on Monday last, the 6th instant, before the Coroner, M. Kebbell, Esq., and a respectable jury, on view of the body of Charles Radford. Deceased was missing for an hour or two on Saturday afternoon, and was at last found in the evening,_ in the outhouse, where he had committed suicide by cutting his throat with a razor. From the nature of the wound, death must have ensued very soon after the awful deed had been committed. The unfortunate man, who was somewhat beyond middle life, had been observed for some tune previous in a very desponding state of mind, which arose it is believed from his altered circumstances. The Jury, after a short consultation, returned a verdict of “temporary insanity.”—N. Z. Spectator , Jan. 8. We have just seen exhibiting at Mr. Lton’s establishment, Lambton-quay, a Nugget from the Otago Gold Fields, in weight upwards of twelve ounces. This nugget is a splendid specimen of the large gold of Otago ; and we believe it is to be sent home to the Great Exhibition of 1862. The Nugget was purchased at Otago by the Bank of New Zealand for the sum of £52 12s.— Ibid.
