J anuary B— Albatross, schooner, 85 tons, Clarke, from Otago, with 2 cases, A. Browne. 4Passensengers. SAILED. December 13— Storm Bird, s. s. 104 tons, Mundle, for Wellington, with 26 baleswool (7280 lbs.) Y. Janisch ; 5 bis. wool (1420 lbs.)Maltby & Co. and part of original cargo for Castle Point, Passengers,—Rev. J. T. Shaw, Mrs. Shaw, Miss Walmsley, Messrs A. Browne, Martin M’Nalty, Hon Herman Stapleton, Mrs. Schotter and child Mrs Johnston and 2 children. Dec. 31— Fancy, schooner, for Auckland via Coast, with 26 bags wheat, 12 empty casks, 7 sacks flour, 1 European passenger. January 3—Burt, cutter, 24 tons, .Webster for Auckland, in ballast. Passenger,—Mr. Harthorn. January 4— Janet, schooner, 38 tons, Toki, for Poverty Bay, with 1 ton sugar, Stuart, Kinross & Co.; 2 tons flour, Napier steam mill. 12 Maori passengers. The Albatross anchored in our roadstead yesterday. She was to proceed on to Auckland the same evening, having only called at Napier to land a small mail, 4 passengers, and a very limited cargo. She carried away 52 passengers, nineteen of whom were left at Port Lyttelton, and twentynine go forward to Auckland. The Albatross left Port Chalmers on the first inst., and had fine Southerly breezes to Lyttelton, where she remained twenty-four hours. She met with very heavy seas all the way from the Kaikoras, and sighted the Surprise off Cook’s Straits, supposed to be bearing for Wellington. Captain Clarke confirms the report of the loss of the Fliezer, brought by the Storm Bird last trip.
