NELSON.
Nomination of Superintendent.—The nomination of candidates, to serve as Superintendent of tins province for the ensuing four years, took place at the Provincial Hall on Saturday last at noon. Though the targe Hall was well nigh filled there being about -100 persons present, on the show of hands only 100 voted. It was about one of the quietest nominations we remember to have seen, not one question having been put to the various candidates though they were the avowed advocates of three distinct lines of policy. The Returning Officer having called for a show of hands, it resulted as follows : Robinson 89 Barnicoat 26 Wrey 3 He then declared Hr. Robinson to bave been duly elected, unless a poll was demanded. A poll was demanded by Mr. Barnicoat. The Returning Officer then fixed Monday, the 23rd of December, as the day for taking the poll. He a'so said that the School-house, Riwaka, had been appointed as an additional polling place. Aftcra vote of thanks to the Returning Officer, the meeting separated.
