Wk understand that steps are being taken for the purpose of erecting a Fenced Bathing ’place just beyond Murm’s. The Subscription List for the admission of members is lying at the stores of Messrs. Newton, Irvine, £ Co. Painful Occurrence. —Mr. W. Boornmu, Solicitor, of this town, has now been missing for a considerable number of days. Nearly three weeks ago he left Napier for Mr. Worgau's station at Waipuna. Shortly after his arrival there, he began to exhibit that kind of insanity which generally succeeds a course of intemperance. On the evening of Saturday, the 2nd inst., he seemed much better, and went, to bed apparently more compose; 1 .. During the night, it appears he relapsed into his former unhappy condition of mind, for after observing that he heard the cries of a drowning woman, he rushed from the house at half-past 11, having on only his shirt and boots. Notwithstanding the most diligent search, no traces of him have been seen, and from tlie vicinity of Mr. Worgau's house to the bush, the numerous streams in the neighbrhood, and the broken nature of the country generally, but little hope is entertained of finding him alive. Sheet, in the Council Chamber, the subject being “ Our Provincial Politics—past, present, and future.” The attendance was rather thin, and the lecture could not he considered successful.
