On Monday last, the inhabitants of Napier were agreeably surprised by the arrival of H.M.S.S. Miranda, Commander Glyn, having on board General Cameron and suite. The General came ashore at once, and proceeded to the Barracks. He there inspected the whole of the garrison and accommodations ; and after a walk over Scinde Island and through the town, the gallant General again embarked. We have been informed that General Cameron expressed an opinion to the effect that the native difficulty would be got over without a resort to hostilities.
