AUCKLAND, Last Night. Well known for many years as the founder of Le Quesne's Pharmacy at Three Lamps, Ponsonby, Mr Alfred William Gaudin Le Quesne (70) died yesterday at his home, Fairfax road, Epsom. He was a son of the late Mr Phillip Le Quesne, Hamilton's "Grand Old Man," whose death occurred on May 31 in his 101st year. . Mr' Phillip Le Quesne came to Auckland from Jersey at the age of 24, having been married a year before. He worked as a carpenter before opening a store in Karangahake road, and in 1866 moved to Hamilton, where his son Alfred was born. One of the oldest pharmacists in Au' md, Mr Alfred Le Quesne, after founding Manning's Pharmacy, Hamilton, came to Auckla. i' and started business at Three Lamp in 1896,- remaining there until his retirement seven years ago. His son, Mr E. W. B. Le Quesne, still :arries on the original business.
