WELLINGTON, This Day. Conditions for the Plunket Shield match between Canterbury and Wellington were well-nigh perfect. The visitors won the toss and batted first. The opening was sensational, Menzies being caught by Gallichan offi the Manawatu fast bowler, PritJnard in the first over, after making four. McRae, th.e incoming batsman, straightaway hit Pritckard for six then Gallichan missed a couple of chances in slips and later a misunderstanding led to a skier from McRae being dropped.
