RETURN OF GEORGE GEE
"OVER SHE GOES," AT MUNICIPAL THEATRE. Playgoers will doubtless be pleased to read the announcement by the J. C. Williamson, Ltd., management to the effect that definite arrangements have heen made for the production here of the latest London musical comedy success "Over She Goes," in which the popular London comedian, George Gee and a company of close on 100 artists, including several London and New York stars will appear at the Municipal Theatre on Friday, January 14. George Gee last appeared in New Zealand as the comedy-hero in "Kid Boots," which enjoyed a record tour, and previously he was the leading comedian in "Lilac Domino" and "Sally." When he returned to England Mr Gee was immediately engaged for a number of musical plays, including "The Girl Friend" and ".White Horse Inn," in which he appeared as the waiter, the role taken by Don Nicol. Mr Gee alsp starred in several talking pictures. In "Over 'She Goes," he has a role that may have been specially written for him, and in it he has achieved probably the best success of his career. The Williamson management has surrounded Mr Gee with a great galaxy of talent including a number of leading musical comedy stars from London and New York. Miss Vleria Hay, who will make her first appearnce here in "Over She Goes," is a noted English artist who scored an outstanding success in Sydney and Melbourne, and Donald Burr is a brilliant young New York juvenile lead. Miss Billie Worth, a vivacious soubrette, comes with a high reputation, won by her excellent artistry in a number of successful musical plays staged in London, and Percy de Fre is. a dashing light comedian and dancer, who was a head-liner in London. The new company also includes a number of artists who are already well and favourably known to playgoers of New Zealand, among whom are Lois Green, the popular, dainty and talented young comedienne, William O'Neal, the possessor of a rich quality tenor voice, Enid Hollins, John Dobbie, Dorothy Dunckley, Tommy Jay, Isobel Cue, Ken Tuckfield, Phil Smith and others. A team of beautiful chorus and ballet girls has been more tban favourably compared with the ladies attached to the Marcus Show, and the orchestra will be composed of sixteen specially selected musicians. "Over She Goes" has been running continuously for the past 18 months in London, and it is still the reigning musical attraction there. It is a bright, fast-moving musical comedy, with exqqisite melodies, excellent musical numbers, plenty of original and wholesome comedy, pretty ballets, gorgeous ensembles and picturesque stage settings. The box plans will be opened at Fail's on Wednesday, January 12.
