HAVELOCK POWER SUPPLY

Improvements in Service "The support given by the Havelock North people since we took over the electrical reticulation o£ the town district has been most gratifying," said Mr T. E. Crosse, chairman of the Hawke's Bay Electric Power Board, this morning. "Directly we took over from the Town Board we brought in a 11,000 volt line into the centre of the residential area. This line has enabled us to greatly improve the service and allows us to charge the existing wires with much heavier current, wnich is now from 230 to 240 volts at the switchboard in the homes. A start has been made for taking the new supply up Simla Avenue. "Residents have told me that they are now receiving a light with a 30 c.p. bulb that is equal to that which they used to get from a 70 c.p. bulb. Both the light and the power that we have made available are giving general satis- | faction and it is pleasing to have the expression of appreciation that we receive. We have still a lot of work to do in Havelock to complete all that has been planned. The great amount of business that the Havelock- people are doing with the board is proof of the popularity of the service. We hav^ given them all a reduction in prices, which are now on the same scale as those charged in Hastings. This move has proved popular."
