VISITS TO GANNETS

Suitable Tides for Excursions at New Year It is anticipated that the New Year holiday season will see a record number of visitors at the gannet sanctuary at Cape Kidnappers. Over the Ghristmas period, this show place proved most popular, and, if the weather holds, it will once more be a mecca for tourists and picnickers. For the information of those who wish to visit the cape, a list ,of high tide times at Clifton for the next week has been supplied. For the walk or bi* cycle ride of about five and threequarter miles along the beach to the cape, it is advisable to leave Clifton about two or three hours after the high tide. Following is the list: — December 31, 4.25 a.m.; January 1, 5.12 a.m.; January 2, 5.53 a.m.; January 3, 6.31 a.m., January 4, 7.8 a.m.; January 5, 7.45 a.m. The beach at Clifton is becoming very popular as a bathing resort for parties of visitors to the birds. Latel.v there have been several swimming parties at the beach who have obviously come for the swimming alone, as they do not visit the cape.
