I * Achilles and Leander to Visit Australia MELLINGTON GOES TO SUVA

AUCKLAND, Last Night As soon as the Christmas leave at present being eqjoyed by ratings of the warship of the New Zealand divislon of the Royal Navy is finished, preparations will be set in ttrain at the Devonport naval hase for further cruises by ihe flagship H.M.S. Achilles, H.M. S. Leander, and the escort vessels H.M. S. Leith and H. M. S. Wellington. The, two cruisers will shortly leave on a courtesy visit to Australian ports. One of the escort vessels is going to southern ports of New Zealand and the other is to sail for Fiji. V In addition to the two cruisers anci the two escort vessels, "the mine sweeper Wakakura and the Admiralty survey ship Endeavour, are also occupying berths at the base, but next week threa of the ships will be leaving. The Endeavour, commanded by Captain Wyatt, •will probably leave on Tuesday to continue her marble survey work in the Eirth of Thames. H.M.S. Wellington, commanded by Commander Loriston-Clarke, will leave for Suva on Thursday, January 6. H.M.S. Leith will leave on a cruise to the South Island which will keep her away &om Auckland until April. She •will pay visits to Picton, Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, Bluff, Stewart Island, West Coast Sounfls, Westport, Nelson, Wellington, Lyttelton and Akaroa. The Australian, visit .of .two cruisers will not begin until January 20. . They will leave, in eompany, but will separate on the way across the Tasman. H.M.S. Achilles going to Sydney and H.M.S. Leander to Melbourne. After these visits, both will go to Jervis Bay and then H.M.S. Achilles will visit Melbourne and H.M.S. Leander will go to Hobart. Before they return to New Zealand the vessels will make short cruises to the south and return to Auckland on April 28.
