Poor Display in Exhibition Game SPECIAL MATCH TO-DAY

(Received 29, 9.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 28. The chorus of condemnation of Budge's peor display against von Cramm yesterday has become the main topic of conversation. Mr Henry Marsh, secretary of the New South Wales Lawn Teunis Association, writing to the Sun, says: "Not one of the 10,000 people who saw Budge in action yesterday ever wapts to see him play again. I owe the public au apology for urging them "through the Press to see the match, My association has been fooled." Budge told a Sun interviewer that he was beaten by a better man on the day. He added: "A man is uot a macbine and cannot be at the top all the time." Budge told Hopman he just could not raise the neeessary effort to stal! off the German's formidable ehallenge. Tennis oflicials aud Budge met in conference to-day. Subsequeutly it was announced that Budge had expressed his eincere regret for hot takiug the matcli as seriously as the occasion demauded, and that he wished to make araeftds, He will play a special exhibition match against J. H. Crawford (Australia) to-morrow. Austral'Ia v. Germany. In the Australia v. Germany tennis doubles Quist and Bromwiek defeated von Cramm and Henkel, 6— -1, 4 — 6, 6--rr4, 8— —6. The Germans' services were superior tb the Australians' but Quist aud Bromwich were rouch more sound in general play, Bromwich's tosses drove the Germans from. the net aud made mauy opeuings for Quist who voileyed aud smashed irresigtibly,
