Porangahau Farmer's Leg Broken SEVEN HOURS' SEARCH
From
WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. - After searching for seven hours, a search party found Mr Nelson Ernest Renall, a middle-aged farmer of Porangahau, lying in an exhausted condition with a broken thigh and other injuries, as a result of being dragged by a horse and trampled upon. Mr Renall was breaking-in . a young, ill-tempered horse. on Sunday afternoon, riding another horse and leading the unbroken animal. He left the homestead early on Sunday morning, but it was not until four o'clock in the afternoon that he was found, his absence in the meantime having caused some alarm. Mr Renall when found was suffering from a fractured femur and bruises and abrasions. From Mr Renall's account of the accident it appears the reins of the horse he was leading became entangled with his foot as he was passing through a gateway. He.was dragged from his horse, after which the other animal trampled upon him. Mr Renall then cut the reins with his pocket knife and freed the animal. . The accident occurred in rough country and the search party had ■ to construct a stretcher from boards. Mr Renall was taken to the Waipukurau Hoa> pital by ambulance. His condition tonigbt was reported as fairly satisfactory.
