(By
Better known as "Pick," young Brian Stowe, who is indentured to his father, O. J. Stowe, made an auspicious start on Monday at the Waipukurau races, when he piloted no less than three horses, Taparau, Hatuma, and Agog, to victory. This lad has a cool head, good hands and a good seat. He rode an exceptionally good race on his first winner, Taparau. Although well back early be rode a most patient race. Again on Hatuma he rode a well-judged race, and ' uirode one boy who has had much more experience than he. In his third • win he was again seen to advantage, albeit that he had little difficulty in doing so, as Agog, on the day, was de- ' finitely superior at the weights to the others.
