NO RESISTANCE Chinese Evacuation of City BUILDINGS SET ON FIRE

(Eeceived 28, 10.30 a.m.) SHANGHAI, Dec. 27. Tsinanfu, on the YeHow river, was eaptuxed without resistance. The Chinese evacuated the city after setting fire to "buildings. The Japanese pursued and completely routed them. A later message states that the Japnnese officially announce the eomplete occupation of Tsinanfu, Japanese soldiers raided the Anglican mission school in Peking, broke into the house of the headmaster, Dr, Timothy Lin, * Chinese educated at Cambridge, smashed his desk, seized papers, ransacked the school, and arrested Dr. Lin on an unknown charge. De5cribing it as a belated Chnstmas eift to Shanghai, the Japanese spokesman announced the Te-opening to foreigners of all areas north of Soochow creek on December 27. Chinese will be barred unless prowided with a pass. The Mayor of Tsingtao has urged reiidents to depart immediately in vmw of the impossibility of keeping the city elear of hostilities, The Japanese Army spokesman says three hand grenades were thrown at a Japanese military launch in Soochow ereelf. Opo exploded, superflcially wounding a Japanese soldier.
