Fernhill Meeting A happy time was spent by all present at the monthly meeting of the Fernhill "Women's Institute. Mrs Davies presided s, and extended a cordial welcome to members, several visitors and about 30 children. Most of the latter. arrived in fancy costumes, all looked so gay and happy. After the business items were discus- , sed and the link letter read, the children began their little items, starting off with a grand march. Mrs Finch acted as accompanist. Exeitement rau high when Father Christmas arrived, and when the Christmas tree, all laden with gifts, was brought on to the stage, the delight was elearly expressed on the Voung faces. Each child was handed a small gift by Father Christmas, also a bag of sweets and a balloon. Several of the members acted as hostesses at afternoon tea time. The competitions for the afternoon were: — Best oloom in own garden:"Mrs A. Taylor (carnation) 1, Mrs Osborne • (Penstenmon) 2, Miss Joan Taylor (stock) 3. Six fancy biscuits: Mrs A. Taylor 1.
