BATHING BELLE CONTEST
"Miss New Zealand" Title To Miss Marcia Hart Ten finalists paraded before tho judges at the Sound Shell, Napier, last evening in the bathing belle competition to discover "Miss New Zealand." The competition drew 19 entries of Napier and visiting girls, the winner being Miss Marcia Hart, of Napier,, who won the £50 offered for first prize in the competnion, and special prizes. The entrants were reduced by an elimination contest in the afternoon to 10, and those remaining were placed by the evening 's judging as follows: Miss Marcia Hart 1, Misses Jean Lee and Valayo des Landes equal 2, Miss Maisie Amner 4, Miss Margaret Simmonds 5, Miss Dorothy Lambert 6, Miss Joan Sommerville 7, Miss Jeyce Barber 8, Miss Olive Dixon 9, Miss Rosalie Green 10. A prize for the entrant with the most beautiful eyes wa3 won by Miss Constance Merson, who was presentqd with a silver cup' awarded by Styles and Styles. A special prize to the winner was presented by Shillings Ltd., Wellington, in the forin of one of the latest designs in American swim suits. The finals attracted a great deal of public interest as reflected in the attendance. All available seats in the euclosure were sold, and a dense crowd lined tho pavement and the area on tho seaward side of the enelosure. The judges were Miss Constance MacDonald, of Napier, Miss Wellington, of Wellington, and Mr. L. Sawyers, of Auckland.
