* From a good start, Oha was first to fehow out from Anini and Great Sandy, but after a short distance King's Hope rau up behind Oha from Anini, Tapurau, and Triplex. Eaeing over the top, King's Hope overhauled Oha, opening jip a gap of two lengths as they turned into the straight. In the race to the post, Tapurau, an outsider, put in a surprising run to win by two lengths from Oha, which just headed off Anini by half a head. King's Hope was fourth. ' Diana Tetrix was first to break the line," showing the way to Eakahanga, Hunter's Eve and Laughing Song. Up the hill Eakahanga took up the running from the xemainder which were bunched except Imogen, who tailed the field throughout. As heads were turned for home, Eakahanga, on the rails, and Diana Tetrix were together and to the post the pair fought a neck-and-neck eontest, in which the favourite two lengths back from Laughing Song. led by a neck. When the tapes rose; Clavercourt was left and as they ran past the stand Umpire had charge from Skyway, Fullamore, Le Toquet and Gironde. Once into the back Clavercourt ran through the field, opening up a gap of several lengths from Impersonator, Le Toquet, Umpire, and Skyway. Clavercourt held his lead in the straight but soon dropped out afte'r the others straightened up. Impersonator won easily at the finish by a length and a hhlf froin Umpire, who beat Le Toquet by a short head. Skyway, Fullamore, and Clavercourt were next to finish. Times 2.8 2-5.

Marsyas was first away but was soon joined by Paro, and the field ran together into the straight. First Chapter, after entering the straight, put in a surprising run and after overhauling the leading pair won easily by a length and a half froi| Taro, outdistancing Marysas by two lengths.
