"Mother is waiting for you' down at the wharf ,' ' said Capt. Burgess, snr. who added that no word had been given by the flying boat as to the weather. To this latter query, the son replied that it had been a perfect trip, and those on board could see the sea most of the time. Conditions were very cairn, he added. ."We will be glad to get to New Zealand, however," he said. Capt. Burgess, snr., intimated that he could not wait any longer at tho "phone" because he was in a hurry to get down to the wharf, where there was sUch a huge crowd waiting for the flying-boat to arrive, and he feared that he might'not be able to get down on to the wharf to welcome his son in time because of the crush. At 2 o'clock the Centaurus was flying at 10,000 feet and making 157 knots. It was expected to reach Auckland at 2.25 o'clock.
