The Rev. S. W. Wyness, who ha» been visiting Hastings, left for Wellington where he will connect with ths Awatea, en route to Australia. Deaconess Holmes left Hastings tbi« morning oh a holiday visit to Auckland. \ Mr. W. G. Holloway, assistant town clerk to the Eastbourne Borough Council, has been appointed town clerk of the Taihape Borough Council. Mr. M. B. Peat, manager of the Gisborne branch of the National Bank of New Zealand, has been notified of his transfer to the manager ship of the Oamaru branch. The death has occurred at Sydney of Mr Frank Dunne, the well-known newspaper artist, at the age of 39. He illustrated the "diggers' page" ut Smith's Weekly for several years.-— Press Assn. Lord Malcolm Douglas-Hamilton, brother of tho Marquess of Douglas and Clydesdale, will reach Auckland from Liverpool by the Waiwera on January 6. H« is to act as advance agent of the f orthcoming English public schoolboys' tour. Major C. Neeve, who has been in charge of the Salvation Army at Napier for the past two and a-half years, has reeeived notice of his transfer, though his future charge has not been notified nor is ihe name of his successor known. Mr. F. N. Clouston left Napier oi) Thursday for Lyttelton, where he Will embark for London to join Ms brother, Fiying-Officer" A. E. Clouston. test pilot in the R.A.F., who recently established a record flight from London to the Cape and back. Mr. Clouston intends taking up flying as a career in England.
