Mrs. Markham Plans Attack on Record

AUCKLAND, Last Night. Plans for a i early attack on the longdistance air record were discussed by Mrs Beryl Markhattt, the flrst Avoman to fly the Atlantic sOlo from east to west and one of the world's most experienced women pilots, in an interview.® Mrs Markham, whose home is in Kenya, passed through Auckland on
the Mai-iposa on her way to Durban via Aust'ralia. Slim, blonde a'nd smartly dressed, Mrs Markham, who has a yoUng son at school in England, revealed her hope of sCCuring a suitablC aeroplane in which to attempt to break one of the most coverted flight records. Wllile in the United States she tried some of tne most liltely machines and has her heart set on a little Northrop that cruises at Over 206 miles an hour and is, she said, "the most attractivd little bus Pve ever handled."
