NAPIER HARBOUR
Work Impresses Visifor
"I was greatly impressed with the work that has been and is being done," said Mr J. R. Eooper. a member of the directorate of the Port Line, in a reference to his ins-pection of the harbour works at Napier yesterday. In an interview, Mr Eooper stated that he was satisfied that a detennined attempt was being made to construct a good harbour. but he waS unable to eomment on tlie future of the port. "As to the future of the port of Napier," he remarked, "I think that it would be extremely difficult to bazard an opinion. I saw the port on a perfeet summer day, when there was hardly a ripple on tlie surface and no swell at 1 all, and it is, of course, diflicult for a slrangcr to judge whai, the effect r.f boihtcrous weather will be on ships tiod up at the new wharves.
