IVORY SILK VELVET WORN BY TAKAPAU BRIDE

PICKETT — MOUAT The Presbyterian Church as Takapau was the scene of a pretty wedding last week, when Ivelyng Betty, daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Mouat, of Takapau, was married to Alexander John, son of Mr and Mrs T. The bride looked very charming as she entered the church with her father, wearing a gcwn of ivory silk velvet, cut on long, classical .lines, with the skirt falling into a graceful train at the back, The softly gathered bodice had an Elizabethan collar and was trimmed with tiny self-covered buttons. Over her frock fell a long veil which was held in place by a halo of tiny wax lilies and orange blossom buds. The bridesmaids, Misses Eileen Johansen and Madis Mouat (sister of the bride), wore attractive frocks of gold silk velvet, cut. on long lines and buttoned from the neck to hemline. The sleeves, gathered at the elbows, and the back of the bodices were also trimmed with buttons. They wore garanium red shoes and carrieil bouquets of painted lilies to tone. Gold halo hats, trimmed with red velvet ribbon with streamers over the back of the head, were worn. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Cyril Paget, and the groomsman was Mr Noel Bartle. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs W. Mouat, the bride's parents. Mrs Mouat received the guests wearing a smart pongee silk costume, worn with an apricot blouse, hat and shoes to tone, and she carried a posy of lemon and apricot roses. Mrs Borrow, grandmother of the bride, wore a navy blue ensemble, with hat to mateh, and carried a posy of' mauve sweet peas. Mrs Mclvor, grandmother of the bride, wore a black and white frock, with black hat and bouquet of mauve sweet peas. When the bride and bridegroom left on a honeymoon tour of the North Island, the bride travelled in a smart sage green ensemble, worn with a cream blouse, and darker green accessories.
