Noxious Weeds

RATEPAYER.

Sir, — A very serious situation is taking place in Hastings with the negiect of ©onvolvulus and blackberry and other noxious weeds. I think houaeholders who leave these weeds to overrun their backyards should be prosecuted, as they are a menace to neighbours who iudustriously keep their sections clean. To my mind, tenants of houses should be liable, not the landlords, wha often do not see their property. NoW that a landlord cannot evacuate a tenant who lets his property go to weeds, the only feasible and practical method of dealing with these sluggards is to make them responsible for clearing weeds and keeping the property in good order. In the interests of the town as a whole, the sooner a "cleanut>" is effected the bertter. — Yours, etc..
