GUN-CLUB SHOOTING

Napier and East Coast Christmas Matches The annual and popular Christmas shoot took place on the Napier and East Coast Gun Club 'a grouuds. Monte Carlo, Marino Parade. There "was a splendid turn-out %f shooters from all parts of the provmce, including Messrs. McMicken and IvTcKay, membotrs of the Hamilton .and Auckland Gun Clubs respectively. The weather was ideal and keen competition for the many Christmas delicacies was the result. The first event was the usual six-bird eye-opener (22 competitors) 2/6 sweepstake. Messrs. J. Mills, J. McKinnon, H. Horsnell and Dr. Harvey divided the money.

Following are the regults: — Nine-bird Christmas shoot, 12 prizes (24 competitors). Winners in Totation were: W. J. McMicken, M. Gordon, Dr. Harvey, J. Mills, J. McKinnon. J. Holt, R. Angus, C. Holt, T. Parker, H. Horsnell, A. McGaffin. B. Pranklin. Nine-bird Christmas shoot 12 prizes (25 competitors). Winners in rotation were: J. McKinnon, R. D. Casey, M. Gordon, A. McGaffin, T. Y. Morrin. E. H. McKay, B. Pranklin, W. J. McMicken, H. Gardner, J. Mills, A. Eogers, Dr. Harvey. Nine-bird shoot, 12 prizes (25 competitors). Winners in rotation were: A. MeKay. J. McKinnon, S. Morrin, P. D. Casey, W. J. McMicken, A. Eogers, T. Parker, M. Gordon, J. Holt, H. Howlelt, C. Holt, T. V. Morrin. Novelty shoot: President's prize Christmas cake; 9 birds, one cartridge only to-be used; J. Mills "took the cake" with the possible. T. Parker and E. D. Casey with one down, divid-

ed the chickens for seeond and. third prizes. At the conelusion of the afternoon's enjoyment, the president, Mr. T. Parker, in a humorous and appropriate speech, presented the numerous prizes to the successful competitors and called for threa hearty cheers ;'for the donors of the prizes. Messrs. Kingsland, Q'Shaunassey and Scorgie, referee, trapper and secretary respectively, received the thanks of the club as well as a seasonable recognition for their splendid services during the year. The enjoyment of the afternoon was greatly added to by the excellent afternoon tea provided by the ladies, who were, amidst loud cheers, presented with a slight acknowledgment for their generous and good work during tne year. The donors towards the prize list were: Messrs. P. Staff, L. Stephenson, T. Parker, J. Holt, p. D. Casey, J. Scarrott, M. Gleeson, Henry Williams and Sons, Ltd., Hardwicke and Eobertson, Ltd., Sunshine Brewery, Ltd., Mr. A. A. McDougall, National Tobacco Co., Ltd.
