dunedin sale Season's Record of 22£d for Super Halfbred Line RISE OF UP TO ld

(By Telegraph-

DUNEDIN, This Day. The fifst wool sale opened to very keen bidding, and passings were small. The Continent was a very strong bidder for fleece wools and was well supported by Bradford. Local mills wero again a strong "factor, but Continental mills were prepared to pay high prices for super-fine halfbreds. Japan again was an absentee, while American buying was barely noticeable. German and French buyers purchased a fair weight of skirting, with a percentage of fleece. The record top price for New Zealand this season of 22$d was obtained for fiv« bales of super combing halfbred ewe and wether grown by James McArthur, of Clyde, and purchased by a local mill. Compared with previous saies, halfbreds were a halfpenny to a penny higher and crossbreds were a halfpenny to a penny higher. One'of the featilres of the sale was that higher prices than anticipated were realised for specialty lines showing high yielding properties, but some of these sold at 3$d to 4d a lb. lower than last year.
