BRITISH GUNBOAT RESCUES SAMPAN CREW

(Eeceived 20, 10.8 a.m.) HONGKONG. Dec. 19. It is disclosed that 'the British gunboat Ladybird, when near Nanking on December 16, saw a Japanese motorboat collicle with a sampan and throw the two Chinese occupants into the water. A second motor-boat fired on them, wonnding one. . The Ladybird lowered a boat and rescued both, whereon the Japanese told the captain that they would not be resnonsible for the consequences if such interference Mmtimued.
