HASTINGS-NAPIER CRICKET H.H.S.O.B. Compile 199 Against Tech. LOW SCORES GENERAL Tha final series of the first round of the combined Hastings-Napier senior grade club cricket competition were commenced at Hastings and Napier on Saturday afternoon, when low scoring was the order. Several good bowling averages were recorded. The series will not be completed until after the holiday period. Only one game was played at Hastings where United met' Rugby. The visitors had first use of the wicket and made 131, nnd at stumps Rugby appeared imminent of sliowing. a deficiency on the first innings, nine wickets being down for 112 runs. Tho surprise of the afternoon was the good showing made by Hastings H.S.OJB. against the competition leaders, Technical O.B., at Napier. The Hastings side knocked up 199, quite their best score for the season, and, incidentally, the highest aggregate of the afternoon. Stumps found Technical with one wicket down for 55 runs, leaving the issue very much in doubt.
