Monthly Meetings Held The monthly meeting of the committee of the Hastings Returned Soldiers' Association was held on Friday, Mu P. J. Priest presiding over Messrs P, J. S. George, D. S'. McLeod, P. R. Field, L. J. B. Hammond, C. Prebble, L, J. Mackersey, W. A. Mclntyre, C. G. Wilkinson, F, H. Goldfinch, G. H. Roach, and Y. A. Thomson (secretary). Messrs R. E. Hunt and A. J. Manson former members of the committee, were also present by invitation. Leave oi absence was granted to Mr S. I. Jones. The secrotary reported on a conference held at Waipawa last week in connection with the propo.sed R.S.A, picnic to be held on Sir»lay, Febru* ary 6. Arrangements for this function are to be the same as last yeai*, when the picnic was postponed on accouut of the infantile paralysis epidemic. Special trains will run from Napier ,be advertised later. Financial membership to date was reported to be 386, a considerable lmprovement on the figures for a year ago. The sub-committee appointed to deal with the Christmas Cheer Fund reported that 126 grants had been made, and a further 30 applications had still to be dealt with. Mr Hunt stated that, during hie reeent visit to the batllefields, he had liotieed that frequently the name of the next-o£-kin had been omitted from the cemetery registers in the case of deceased New Zealand soldiers. It waa decided to write to headquarters and ask if anything could be dono to rectify these omissions.
