COSY THEATRE
"HIGH, WIDE AND HANDSOME." If it is action you like, with a dash of romance and excitement and humour^ "High, Wide and Handsome," which screens at the Cosy Theatre to-night, is just that lcind of entertainment. It has every element that makes a picbure — good story, godd acting, good singing, goofl cumedy and the most exciting of "scraps." Irene Dunne and Randolph Scott have the leads. The scene is laid in America in the days when oil was just entering the boom stage. Scott is cast as a youSg farmer with novel ideas on the subject. He pursues them and his energics are rewaTded when oil is struck in a "gusher" on his property. There are amazing scenes as the oil rush sets in. Led by Scott, the farmers set out on the tremendous task of laying a pipeline across a long stretch of country that would carry the oii direct to the refinery without the need to depend on the railway. They were lawless days and the pipe-layers were constantly beset by gangs of "toughs," engaged by the raihvay to spoil- the enterprise. Irene Dunne, .daughter of a travelling showman, becomes the wife of Scott^ and it is through her help that success eventually comes to the farmers-jof-oih Through it all there are the musie and the songs of Jerome Kern and OscaT Hammerstein II., and a wide variety of side interests, including the activities of a circus, It is thoroughly good entertainment.
