Swimming Tragedy in Southland

INVERCARGILL, Last Night. While swimming in the Oreti river behind Mr. W. E. Hunt's property ut Wallacetown late this afternoon, two youths, Henry Dale, aged 16, and Mervyn Cook, aged 18, were drowned. Their clothing was discovered on the bank of the river at 4.30 p.m. and the police were informed. Two constables organised , draggiug operations and the body of Dale was recovered at 7 p.m. and that of Cook at 10 p.m. It is believed that Dale got into diffieulties and that Cook went to his assistance.
