Officers Elected at Annual Meeting FINANCIAL PROBLEMS
Financial limitation's which eurbed tbe activities of the society' were mentioned by members at the annual meeting of the Napier Repertory Players on Wednesday evening. There was some aiscussion as to wliether it would be possible to enter the usual two teams in the Britisb Drama League competition on the small subscription-rate at present in operation. It was pointed out, however, by Messrs Fairclough and H. Spenc.e, that tbe Drama Leagne work haj been tbe society 's best ad-v-ertisement in the past, also that, despite the expense, it was wonderful training. It was deeided to enter teams as usual but delegates to the league were asked to try to arrange for next year's festival to be beld in the new Napier theatre. Financial difficulties again came into the discussion in connection with plavreadinge, Mr J. Fairclough suggested carrying on without actions or stage "props" in the society 's own studio. and it was agreed tbat the committee should go into tbe whole matter to see if play-readings were financially possible. Tbe following officers were elected: President, Mt J. W. Cargill; vice-presi-dents, Messrs W. G. Wood and A. E. Renouf: acting-bonorary secretary, Mi W. B. Wishaw; treasurer, Mr T. l\ L. lteanev; auditor, Mr Maurice Spence; coinmittee, Mesdames W. G. Wood, M. Menielssohn and F. O'Connell, Messrs S. P. Spiller, G. Madigan, G. E. Tyler, and G. Jobansen; delegates to Drjama League, Messrs R. B. Chadwick and A. E. Renouf.
