NAPIER'S STRONG APPEAL TO THOSE WHO SEEK A DAY BY THE SEA
Napier holds many attractions for Hastings people insearch of a day's pleasure. The sea has a strong appeal to most people and Napier, particularly since the earthquake of 1931, has taken very definite steps to make the best of its natural features. • • « The Marine Parade has been exploited to its fullest, and' now visitors have many facilities for making a day at the beach most enjoyable. The well-kept and laid out gardens on the seafront are unique and the Tom Parker Fountain, soundshell and! colonade are novelties of which no other town in New Zealand' can boast. Excellent swimming is provided at both the baths and in the sea, while for the younger folk there are the-' paddling pool and playing area. Napier, by day or by night, is truly an attractive place. j Westshore, also since the earthquake, is enjoying great popularity from Hastings residents, being so easy of access. Here the changes wrought by the earthquake have made a beach safe for bathing, and beach cottages have sprung up in large and growing numbers, while crowds of picnic parties fre-. quent the long expanse of beach on any day that is a holiday*
