FINISHING TOUCHES

WRAPPING-UP GIFTS

WRAPPINQ up Christmas gifts gives the touch of finality to preparations. The oimplest present, when daintily wrapped, is as artistic as the most elaborate one; and it appears far more costly if the latter is poorly done up. The fi r 3 1 .sight of a Christmas package is a mmtter of importance; so don 't neglect to make what you give appear to the betst advantage. The matter of expense can can be negligible, for you

can buy enough combination tinsel and fancy string for a few pence to tie up a great many parcels; or you need use only the gay coloured string. Most persons have a collection of sheets of tissue paper saved from parcels from tehops, and these' can be ironed as new as fresh sheets. Then from old magazines coloured pages can be cutj find cut again into strips, circles and otlier shapes that- will readily suggest themselve's. Use a sixpence for small circles, and a shilling or florin for larger ones. Gum the backs of the papers, and you will then have a fine assortment of decorating bands and Christmas stickers with which to secure wrappings. These can be used also in conjunction with the string or paper ribbon, if you prefer the latter. Apply the paste to strips or stickers as you u'se them. If you do not have to economise in fancy wrappings the scope of ways into which you can give parcels a festive air is almost without limit. Little pine cones in their natural hue or . given brilliance with gold or silver metallic paint; sprigs of imitation hollv filled with red berries;' great bows of satin riFbons — all these and " many other novelties can be nsed.
