THE CHRISTMAS PRESENT PROBLEM

At this time of the year many people, particularly housewives in the country, are steeped in thoughts of Christmas, and are wondering how best to live up to the spirit of the occasion on a modesjt income. Even those who are poorest in material wealth are sometimes richest in the lasting happiness and satisfaction that come from within. This is a kind of happiness that is of their own making, and somethilng that not even the direst poverty can quench. For the full life, however, a certain amount of material wealth is necessary. Particularly at Christmas time does it bring happiness to possess some of this wealth in order that it may be given to others. Yet it is surpising how much can be created for so little expenditure, provided the spirit is willing' and the fingers are nimble. On this page women in every walk of life will find suggestions that may be helpful in solving the problem of what to give at Christmas, and how best to commemorate the memorable anniversary.
