"FIVE O'CLOCK" PARTY HELD IN HASTINGS
As the wedding next week of Mr E. W. Symes, or Hastings, and Miss Judy .Rutledge, of Gisborne, will be quietly celebrated in Gisborne, Mr and Mrs A. F. i .. Symes entertained their friends at a very bright "five o'clock" party at their home, Richmond Park, Hastings, yesterday. The guests were received by Mr and Mrs Symes, the latter wearing a georgette frock ilowered with a large design in pastel shades and having a spray of roses at the shoulder. Her daughter, Miss Connie Symes wore a frock of navy blue and white figured daytimo net. Mrs Symes's other daughters, Mrs A. G. Stead and Mrs W. R. Stead, also helped to entertain the guests. Mr J. Wedd proposed a toast to Mr E. W. Symes and Miss Judy Rutledge, the latter unfortunately not being present, and later Mr Symes thanked everyone for their good wishes.
