PARENTS' DAY AT WAIPUKURAU

WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. In front of the Waipukurau School, with its motto in large white lettere above them, "I will yet go forward," a large number of parents and friends assembled this afternoon to watch tae children perform rhythmic drill movements to the strains Of the school band. Following speeches by Mr H. M. Christie, M.P., and the headmaster, Mr V. Parsons, tho dux medal was presented to Alfred Howlett by the chairman of the school committee, Mr C. F. Haycock. Mr Parsons mentioned that the competition this year had been very close, six contestants being all worthy of the honour. A number of mevit eards, five being granted to each class, were then presented, after which a drill displav was held by the girl pupils. Folk dancing and singing were given by the infants, i after which afternoon tea was served.
