To Dog-Lovers of New Zealand
CARL
VOGTHERR.
Sir, — Regarding control of distemper and injection of serum, I have had experience of over 40 years. I have had as many as 10 dogs down with distemper at one time. My kennels were in Sunderland. Now we come back to in]ection of serum. I have' tried all these stunts out. I have found bloodletting a i'airly good substitute ; the idea, of course, is to let all the poisoned blood out of the system. That is as far as I can go as proof of the poison in the system. The only remedy and successful remedy for distemper — and there are a few round aDout Hawke's Bay who could prove my following statement — is this : — One shilling's worth of Three Star brandy, one shrlling's worth of best Port wine. Give tlffit as soon as ever you find your dog sluggish or heavj^ and I am prepared to prove 99 cases out of 100 will be cured of distemper. — Yours, etc.,
