SANATORIUM ALTERATIONS
i Our Own Correspondent.)
(From
WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. The Waipawa Hospital Board at its November meetiiig diseussed proposals for a re-building programme for Pukeora Sanatorium and then deferred this pending a visit from Wellington of Dr. R. A. Shore and other Health DepaTtment officials. Therefore when a report from the finance committee that was to be proceeded with to provide staff accommodation at the Sanatorium was received at to-day's meeting of the board, members became curious as to what had been the outcome of the earlier proposals, until the matter was cleared up by an explanation from Mr W. D. Neild, who represented the board at tlie meeting with the Health Department officials. "The decision reaclied at our last meeting," said Mr Neild, "was that, in view of the possibility that our sponding £1700 on improvements niight be wasted if we went on Avith a rebuilding sclieme, we should defer spending that money. When Dr. Shore and otliers mado an inspection of the buildings, however, they gave us the impression that we would be most unwise if we did not spend immediately the £1700 we have. Dr. Shore thought we should go on with the work at once." Two tenders were received for tlie proposed alteratious to Ihe staff accommodation at Jte Sanatorium. Both were from Waipukurau fivms. The board decided to accept the lower one from Winlove and Sons for £1150.
