(Eeeeived 16, 11.35 a.m.) LONDON Dec. 15. A warning to British manufacturers that it is often necessary to depart from designs current in the United Kingdom in order to meefc the needs of tho New Zealand market is contained in a report of economic and commercial conditions in New Zealand published by the Department of Overseas Trade. The report urges manufacturers to raake a special effort to supply industrial maehinery. It is doubtful, it says, whether openings for industrial maehinery in New Zealand have been as assiduously cultivated as markets for such standardised articles as textiles, china, etc. The report also cites figures showing Japanese gains at the expense of Britain in respect of cottons, linens and canvas, and says: "As far as price is eoncerned, British manufacturers appear quite unable to compete with Japan."
