SMEDLEY OLD BOYS FORM ASSOCIATION
Smedley Estate cadets are now inereasing so in numbers that old boys o± the estate training farm determined upon a reunion, with the idea of forming a Smedley Old Boys' Association and so maintaining the spirit of goodfellowship among the students after tliey have left the training farm. The reunion was held in the Carlton Club Hotel, Hastings, and was attended by some twenty-three ex-students and several guests of honour. Mr J. H. Absolom was voted to the ehair. Those present were most enthusiastic on the subject of an association and an association was formed to be called the Smedley Old Boys' Association. The election of officers. reseulted: — -s Patron, Mr R. J. Douglas; president, Mr S. Harvey; vice-president. Mr R. Mason; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr M. H. Johnstone; cornmlttee, Messrs Lamason, Schaw, Crompton-Sinith, and Aitcheson. The following toast-list was honoured: "The Smedley Old Boys' Association," Mr F. W. Browne, Mr S. Harvey; "The Smedley Estate." Mr M. H. Johnstone, Mr R. J. Douglas; "The Lecturers," Mr R. Mason, Mr E. E. Elphick. Apologies were received from several of those invited. The guests of honour were: Messrs R. J. Douglas, F. W. Browne, J. II. Absolom and E. E. Elphick. Smedley OJd Boys present were: Messrs Harvey, Mason, Johnstone, Schaw. Lamason, Crompton-Smith, Aitcheson. Amner. Balfour, Corner, H511. Lumsden, McCormaek, Mortensen, Mildon, Scotl, Robinson. Coles Little, Henderson, Unwin and Dewes.
