Cricket Match at Wellington REES REPUCES O'BRIEN

WELLINGTON, This Day. The Town v. Country crioket match ig being played on a wicket not unduly affected by yesterday's rain. The hatfield is fast and the weather warm and close. Christ-ensen (Taranaki) was raplaced by Hateh (Manawatn) and O'Brien (Hawke's Bay) by D. A. Resf (Hawke's Bay). Country won the toss and Robertso* and Bees opened to Wilsbn and O '- Neill.. Runs came at a reasonably fast pace. Ashendon, at 28, relieved O'-t Neill, and With his third deliverv skittled Rees, the score board reading 32— 1 — 16. Murchison came in and 50 appeared on the board after 45 foinuteii The score at noon was 72 for one— Robertson not out 43, Murchison not ottt 12, extras one. . Robertson went at 73 to a trap by Ashenden, who was bowling particular--ly well. Donnelly was greeted with applause and at once settled down, but, after five singles, played too soon i» endeavouring to hook a sho'rt one, th# score reading 86 — 3 — 5. Murehison was beaten all the way with the seore at 88 — 4 — -21, and Ongley went without seoring, 89 — 5 — 0. Norris and Hook brought up the hundred after 95 minutes play, and -Hook lifted Ashenden to longon for six. After taking three for 40 off tes overs, Ashenden was relieved by Griffiths, and O 'Neill was given a turn at the other end. Neither batsman was being worried, and Ell took over from Griffiths, whose two overs had realised" 22 runs.
