Nuhaka Fatality

WAIROA. This Day. A drowning fatality — the fourth in the Wairoa district this (summer — oocurrer at Nuhaka late on Monday afternoon, the victim being an eleven-year-old Maori boy, Thomas Apirana Morgan, whose parents reside at Muriwai, near Gisborne, and who for some months has been staying with a relative, Mrs Puti Nepia, at Nuhaka. The boy was swimming in the Nuhaka river and clinibed on to a bridge to dive. He slippe'd and fell into the water. v At the inquest a finding of accidental drowning was returned. The Coronet paid a tribute to a Maori. Epanaia Christy, aged 16. who dived in fully clothed in an atteinpt to rescue the boy.
