WASHHOUSE FIRE
Flames Spread to Attached Residence BRIGADE'S GOOD SAVE After several false alarmB in past weeks, the Hastings Fire Brigade found a real fire to go to last evening, when at 10 o'clock, they received a call to tlie residence of Miss J. Beamisli, 504 Nelson street north, wliere a fh'e l13-*! started in tlie vash-house attached to the rear of the building. The flames entered tlie house, but had not done very much daniage when the brigade arrived and quickly extinguished tlie fire. Tlie fire had gained a good hold in the wasli-house b'efore the alarm was given, and this portion of the building was almost gutted. The fire entered a room at the back of the house, but was soon extinguished. The majority of the damage to the inside of ij|e hou&e was done by water. The house was covered by insurance for £500 with the State Bire Insurance office, and the furniture for £250-
