Finals Played in Hastings Tournament TROPHIES PRESENTED The tennis tournament for the Hastings schools, conducted by the Hastingg Tennis Club, was concluded on Saturday morning, when the finals were played. Over 40 players participated and some cxcellent tennis was witnessed, the improvement in the standard of play as the result of eoaching by members of the Hastings club, being most marked. The final of the bovs' singles provided an excellent contost between Russell Harding and J. Thom, and it was only tho consistency of Harding over the final feiv games that gave him victory by 10 to 8. J, Skeet and H. Roach, im the fiual of the girls' singles both played well for the former to win by 9 — 6. At the conclusion of play in presenting tropliies to the winners Mr Noel C. Harding, president of uie Hasti|ngs Tennis Club, made reference ■ to the efforts of the club to foster juuior tennis and expressed appreciation at the success of the tournament, which would be an aunual function. -He congratulated the winners of the various events and expressed appreciation oi the efforts of Mr J. B; Wilson, secretary of the Hastings club, in arranging the tournament, and Miss E. McMillan, and Messrs J. Leggatt and R. Bradley, ' for their assistance on the running of the tournament.
