HEALTH OF PUPILS

Medical Examinations at High Schools Dealing with the medical examination of boys at tlie high school the Minister of Health, the Hon. P. Eraser, in a letter to tlie Napier Secondary Education Board, stated that the desirability of medically examining secondary school pupils was rccognised and it was hoped to enlarge the staff of the school medical service to enabie this to be done. Up to tlie present time it liad not been possible to appoint suitable medical offieers to undertake this work, but as soon as the service could be supplemented, the question of the exainination of pupils in post-primary schools would be one of the first to reeeive consideration. It was not fegarded as desirable that local practitioners should undertake the medical inspection of schools The letter was received by the board at its monthly meeting last evening. The secretary, Mr W. L. Dunn, reported that he had made inquiries regarding a report 011 the medical inspection of the pupils of tlie Girls' High School, and stated that he had ascertained that 110 special report was to be furnished. Tliis was in accordance with the usual practice that reports were not furnished on the individual schools visited.
