THE TAIHAPE ROAD
Hon. R. Semple to Make Inspection As the result of representations made on behalf of the Hawke's Bay County Council in Wellington by Mr E. JI. Beamish, there is every likelihood that the Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Public Works, will visit Hawke's Bay early in the New Year and inspect the Taihape road. He will also inspect the Ahiwia stream. In Teporting the result of his visit to the council yesterday, Mr Beamish said the Minister agreed that it was impossible to xeplace the bridge while the stream in the vicinity xemained in its present condition. The Minister gave an undertaking to make a personal inspection and said that, as far as the Ahiwia stream was concerned, something would be started this autumn. Mr Beamish added that the recent trip to the district by the Hon. W. E. Parry was a contributing factor in Mr Semple taking such a keen interest id his representations.
