Remarks Made at Rivers' Board Meeting NO REFLECTION INTENDED "I would like to see Mr Puflett superintending our river works, I will have something to say about it if that time comes." These remarks made ironically by Mr W. H. Campbell at the Jaqt meeting pf the Rivers' Board wero discussed by the Hawke's Bay County Council to-day. The chairman, Mr'F. B. Logan, said that Mr Campbell had been eommunieated with and had intimatod that he did not mean what he said, Mr Campbell added that he had nothing against Mr Puflett but he did aot wish that the Rivers Board should becojtne part of the County Council, Mr C. Lassen explained that the type of engineering required fqr river work was quite different from county work, and members of the Rivers Board confiidered that it would be strango for Mr Puflett. Mr Logan: No refleetiou whatever was east on Mr Puflett. "The ratepayerp mjght have thought Giat we want to a«t Mr Pufflett's services ap well ns Mr O'Connell's," said Mr C. C. Smith, Members accopted the assurance that ro reflection was intended against thp'r engineer.
