STATE THEATRE
•'RAINBOW ON THE RIVER.', The tragie aftermath of war is vividly reflected in the lives of the Chatacters appearing in Bobby Breen's current starring picture "Rainbow on the Biver" which screens at the State tonight. The dramatic musical film, prOdiiced by Sol Lesser for Principal Produetions is laid in the period directly followin^ the Civil War, when the strif e-to ra South was eourageously undergoing i'ehabilitation. Against this backgrouttd is painted a heart-touching picture of a young orplian boy. An old coloured maminy takes tho child under her care and brings it up in a sirnple, yet carefree life. Gifted with a natural and reraarkable singing voice the lad merrily sings his way into the hearts of all until a sudden turn of events drags him from the side of the faithful servant to place him in the inhospitable attttosphere of a stern grandmother 's mansion in tho Nortlx. But his enehantiflg yoiee and personality linally win the old whinau 's affectiOn and he eStablishes a link-of friendsliip betw5en his Yankce aiid Southern benef'actors. Having skyrocketed to film fame in his first pifiture, "Let's Sing Again, ' ' and won the heart-s of fans as Eddio Cantor's radio protege, young Bobby Breen reaches new heights in his current musical story.
