IONA COLLEGE PUPILS HOLD SWIMMING SPORTS
Keen computition in all events at the annual swimming sports of the pupils of Iona College, Havelock North, made the programme an exciting one for all the onlookejs, and the standard of the swimming Avas very high, the diving in particular being highly praised by all Avho watclied. Though the weather was not very fine it Avas by no means unpleasant, and seats Avere arranged on tlie terraces overlookmg the baths to enable all the visitors ro obtain a good vieAv. The college has beautiful swimming haths set in lovely surroundings, and the gardens, Avith many gay fiower beds, Avere greatly admired tiuring the afternoon. The sports were arranged by the games mistress, Miss Betty Griffiths. and the judging Avas done by Mr. J. B. Campbell, Rev. P. J. A. Shaw and Mr. W. The Cameron House Cup was won by Gartan House. , The senior champion was won by Pattie Hennah, with 12 points, and' ihe runner-up was Joan Hennah, with seven points. The junior champion was Margaret Smith, with 17 points, and tlie runner-up Dianne Phillips, with 11 points.
